Mr.&Mrs. Shinohara, from Kyoto, have created their own style from working in several different ceramic traditions and getting extensive training in Aritayaki, Setoyaki and Hasamiyakia . Kiseto, Hakeme and Kohiki are their main styles which they work in to create beautiful products that can be used everyday. Their main focus is to bring the many ceramic styles of Japan to daily life.
The Kiseto glaze, is a type of glaze that is fired at a high temperature and results in a yellow or amber color with speckles. Kiseto is usually a smooth and shiny texture, but Mr. and Mrs. Shinohara's Kiseto glaze is characterized by a matte rough texture giving it a unique look and feel.
